How We Work

Pre-Employment Courses

We believe everybody deserves a fair chance of earning a wage and finding employment. For the past decade it has been our mission to provide unemployed members of our communities with the training, guidance and support to help make employment a reality.

Here’s what we do:

Before the course …

  • We are happy to guide you through the entire process – beginning with outlining the type of employment you feel is most suitable to you and what you’d enjoy.
  • Pending on you meeting the desired criteria to qualify for our pre-employment courses, Training Strategies will arrange government funding to cover all costs.

During the course….

  • Our courses are classroom based and delivered by industry experts, who work hard to ensure your entire training process is as smooth and comfortable as possible.
  • Depending on the pre-employment course and industry that you want to work in, the programme can range from 5-12 days.

 Once you’ve completed …

  • Once you’ve completed the course, you will have developed a wealth of strong interview skills to succeed within that pressured environment.
  • Depending on the course you have completed, TSL will fund your industry licence or badge once you have gained your qualification. For example, for our SIA course, we pay for the licence (worth £220) once you’ve completed. For taxi driving, we pay for your unique driver licence (worth £254) once you have achieved your qualification.
  • From our partnership with a variety of organisations from many different industries, we often have hundreds of job vacancies we can put you forward for.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships

There’s never been a better time to complete an apprenticeship. This pairing of workforce experience alongside education training is invaluable to you for employment prospects and developing your social skills and confidence in the workplace.

Here’s what we do:

Before the course …

  • We are happy to guide you through the entire process – starting with talking to your employer and outlining how such training programmes are an investment for not only you, the employee, but also for the business, impacting the wider organisation by adding value and increasing growth.
  • As apprenticeships are work-based programmes, our experts will liaise with your employer to guide you to a training course that is appropriate and relevant to your current job role and business level.
  • The average for most apprenticeship courses are 1 year, however depending on the industry and level of qualification they can range from 1-5 years.

During the course….

  • 80% of your course will be completed on the job, putting your newly developed skills into practice from the offset. The remaining 20% will be spent working closely with your assessor. This will develop your theoretical industry knowledge and understanding of how your newly developed skillsets can help to improve the business.
  • Our expert coaches will provide constant support and guidance during your course, ensuring you’re confident and comfortable at all times.
  • Depending on the course you are completing and the industry in which you’re working, you may also complete free Functional Skills English and Maths courses to increase your confidence and knowledge.
  • As part of your apprenticeship programme you may be required to complete an End-point Assessment (EPA) carried out by an independent organisation, which tests everything you have covered during the course.

Once you’ve completed …

  • Once you’ve completed your training programme you’ll achieve your qualification and receive your course certificates. Depending on the level you have completed, you may be able to progress on to higher levels of the programme.
